Arusha. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) has won a continental award recognising its excellence in sustainable tourism and conservation management.

The authority received the Excellence in Sustainable Tourism and Conservation Management Award at the Africa Business Forum & Awards 2026, held in Accra, Ghana, on October 17.

The award recognises Ngorongoro’s efforts to conserve biodiversity, promote sustainable tourism and safeguard its globally significant natural and cultural heritage.

Speaking at the ceremony, Conservation Commissioner Abdul-Razak Badru said African countries should harness their natural and cultural assets to develop competitive tourism attractions that deliver economic, environmental and social benefits.

He said the recognition reinforced the NCAA’s commitment to protecting Ngorongoro’s heritage while ensuring that conservation benefits local communities and future generations.

The latest accolade adds to Ngorongoro’s international recognition, following its designation as Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards in 2023 and 2025.

The NCAA aims to establish Ngorongoro as a global centre for conservation, heritage and high-end tourism through responsible investment, sustainable resource management and improved visitor services.

Tanzania’s Ambassador to Ghana, Selestine Kakele, who is based in Nigeria, commended African countries for expanding cross-border trade and investment.

He also invited major African companies and investors to explore opportunities in Tanzania, describing the country as a safe destination with favourable conditions for business.
